Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Familias Unidas del Chamizal, and the San Xavier Residents to Host a Community Event to File Public Comments Regarding BOTA

EL PASO, TEXAS – On Wednesday, February 21st, 2024, TRLA and its partner organization, Familias Unidas del Chamizal, and the client community of San Xavier invite the media and the public to attend their “iLibre El Puente Libre! iFuera las Trocas!” event to encourage the El Paso community to submit in real time public comments to the federal government regarding the removal and relocation of semi-trucks on BOTA, known as Alternative #4.

TRLA attorneys will be available to answer questions regarding each proposed design during the event. Community members will be assisted in filing their official public comments to be included in the Environmental Impact Statement.

Regardless of event attendance, all comments can be officially filed to the federal government by Friday, February 23rd, 2024, by 4:00 PM (MST) via bota.nepacomments@GSA.gov or dropped off during regular business hours at Café Mayapán, Monday to Friday 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (MST).

 

WHAT: The “iLibre El Puente Libre! iFuera las Trocas!” event welcomes the El Paso community to file their official public comment regarding Alternative #4 in real time with the help of TRLA attorneys and its partner organizations.

WHY: As part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and to aid the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement, the federal government asks the community for public comments regarding their six proposed designs.
